Conservation architects’ listed hotel conversion, refurbishment and extension
The substantial conversion, refurbishment and extension of the Grade 1 Listed former coaching inn The Talbot Hotel is a building of National Importance and comprises a range of 10 buildings; the earliest of which dates back to the 16th Century. It is reputed to incorporate the staircase from Fotheringay Castle; down which Mary Queen of Scott’s was lead to her execution. Horsley Townsend Architects’s proposals received considerable praise from English Heritage. The project dovetails the commercial requirements of the food and beverage activities with sound conservation principles.
